This event will take place at the Computer History Museum, 1401 N. Shoreline Blvd., Mountain View.

So it looks like the Borderlands Sale didn’t happen on Sunday – at least that’s what their latest newsletter says. But don’t worry, you get a second chance this Sunday (16th)!

Here’s a quick update for this week. On Thursday (November 13th) Last Gasp is hosting a special reading and book signing event with author/designer Chip Kidd. Kidd worked with Art Spiegelman on the very fabulous Jack Cole and Plastic Man: Forms Stretched to Their Limits, a few years ago, and is currently the associate art director at Knopf. He will appear at 111 Minna Gallery (111 Minna St., San Francisco) at 6:00pm and his talk is all about his new book: BAT-MANGA! – The Secret History of Batman In Japan. Full bat-details here.

It is almost time for our final event of the year. Our reading on Saturday will feature Ellen Klages and Geoff Ryman. Ellen read from her new book, White Sands, Red Menace, at Borderlands Books last weekend and it sounds like another award winner. Geoff, we are sure, will be wonderful as ever. And we have a special guest. Nalo Hopkinson will still be in town after her fabulous performance at Writers with Drinks, and has agreed to come along to our event too.

Just in case you need reminding, that’s Saturday November 15th the The Variety Preview Room, 582 Market St. @ Montgomery (1st floor of The Hobart Bldg.). Doors Open 6:00pm (cash bar, all proceeds to variety). Readings start 7:00pm.

Over at io9 Charlie Jane Anders reveals that Nalo Hopkinson will be a special guest at this Saturday’s Writers With Drinks. And Charlie should know, because she organizes the event. The other readers will be Austin Grossman, Michelle Tea and Annalee Newitz. The location is The Make Out Room, 3225 22nd. street, not far from the 24th street BART station. Readings start at 7:30 sharp, but Charlie advises that you get there before 7:00 to be sure of a seat. Entry is on a sliding scale from $3 to $5 depending on what you can afford. More details here.
