We are celebrating the summer with two great author events:
Saturday, June 16th: Lev Grossman & S.G. Browne
We are delighted to bring the authors of The Magicians, The Magician King, Fated, and Lucky Bastard together for one night of awesome authorial goodness! Lev Grossman is the NY Times-bestselling author of a duology touted as “the best urban fantasy in years, a sad dream of what it means to want something badly and never fully reach it.” He is a senior writer and book critic for Time Magazine.
S. G. Browne, with his new book Lucky Bastard, is an up-and-coming San Francisco author, whose debut novel, Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament, helped coin the phrase “rom-zom-com” (romantic-zombie-comedy). Lucky Bastards, is about Nick Monday, a private detective with the unique ability to steal other people’s luck. Find out who the highest bidder is for this saleable commodity!
Thursday, June 21st: Robert J. Sawyer & Rachel Swirsky
Robert J. Sawyer is well-known to discerning readers of quality science fiction. His recent work includes the adaptation of his novel FlashForward into an ABC TV series, but he also has had over 21 novels published (with a new one, Triggers, available at SF in SF), and is a staunch advocate for Canadian literature. He is one of only eight writers in history — and the only Canadian — to win all three of the world’s top Science Fiction awards for best novel of the year: the Hugo, the Nebula, and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award.
Rachel Swirsky is, quite simply, one of the best short fiction authors writing today, with a 2010 Nebula Award for her novella, “The Lady Who Plucked Red Flowers Beneath the Queen’s Window.” She was the founding editor of the PodCastle podcast and served as editor from 2008 to 2010.
For Both Events

Each author will read a selection from their work, followed by a Q & A session with the audience, moderated by author Terry Bisson. Booksigning and schmoozing in the lounge follows. Books for sale for each author, courtesy of Borderlands Books.
