Heather Shaw is one of the editors of the ‘zine Flytrap; it was the twice-yearly ‘zine from Tropism Press, featuring fiction, poetry, automatic writing, reviews, essays, and assorted oddities. It was like a wunderkammer, in text form, between cardstock covers, but has now gracefully bowed out of print so Heather and her husband have time to write. Back issues available here.
Heather is a prolific short story writer, with stories that have appeared in Year’s Best Fantasy 2006, Polyphony, Strange Horizons, The Year’s Best Fantasy & Horror anthologies, and poetry that has been published in The Rhysling Anthologies and Strange Horizons. Her nonfiction pieces, dealing with subjects ranging from the writings of Octavia Butler and Nalo Hopkinson to erotic how-tos and spoofs on modern manners for the modern girl, have appeared in Strange Horizons, Clean Sheets, and several anthologies. Her day job as a buyer for Blowfish gives her some interesting experiences upon which to draw upon for her writings. Otherwise, she lives in Oakland with her husband, the writer T. A. Pratt, and the world’s best OfficeBaby.
