To celebrate his latest title STARTER VILLAIN, author John Scalzi joins SF in SF for the night, in conversation with author Kimberly Unger.\u00a0 Think of some hard questions to ask the authors, as the reading is followed by Q&A with the audience!<\/strong><\/p>\n

John Scalzi and Kimberly Unger titles will be available for sale at the event, <\/strong>courtesy of\u00a0Bookshop West Portal. <\/a><\/strong>Booksigning follows – please feel free to bring your own titles from home, but note our rule:\u00a0 3 books at a time, then get back in line.\u00a0 This is so everyone gets a book signed that wants one.<\/strong><\/p>\n

JOHN SCALZI <\/strong>is an American\u00a0science fiction author\u00a0and former president of the\u00a0Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. He is best known for his\u00a0Old Man’s War<\/i>\u00a0series, three novels of which have been nominated for the\u00a0Hugo Award, and for his blog\u00a0Whatever<\/i>, where he has written on a number of topics since 1998. He won the\u00a0Hugo Award for Best Fan Writer in 2008 based predominantly on that blog, which he has also used for several charity drives. His novel Redshirts<\/i>\u00a0won the 2013\u00a0Hugo Award for Best Novel. He has written non-fiction books and columns on diverse topics such as finance, video games, films, astronomy, writing and politics, and served as a creative consultant for the TV series\u00a0Stargate<\/i> Universe.\u00a0 There’s much more info at his Wiki page, here.<\/a><\/p>\n

KIMBERLY UNGER <\/strong>is the Philip K. Dick Award-winning author of \u00a0The Extractionist, <\/em>and her debut novel Nucleation<\/em>. Unger made her first videogame back when the 80-column card was the new hot thing and followed that up with degrees in English\/Writing from UC Davis and Illustration from the Art Center College of Design. Nowadays she produces narrative-games for VR, lectures on the intersection of art and code for UCSC\u2019s master\u2019s program and writes science fiction about how all these app-driven superpowers are going to change the human race.\u00a0(TL;dr: Unger writes about fast robots, big explosions, and space things.)\u00a0\u00a0Kimberly Unger lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she works in the future of VR on the Meta-Oculus gaming platform.\u00a0 Learn more about this amazing local talent here<\/a><\/p>\n

American Bookbinders Museum<\/a>\u2018s entrance is located at 355\u00a0Clementina Alley, between 4th and 5th Street,\u00a0between Howard and Folsom.\u00a0 The nearest BART station is Powell and Market.\u00a0 Street parking is free on Sundays (check the meter for hours!), and there are several garages in the area as well \u2013 further directions and transit options are\u00a0available here on the ABM\u00a0website<\/a>.<\/p>\n
